EDGEMASTER

Corner Forming Technology

EDGEMASTER products feature a very unique process to form corners to create for example a pan shaped part from a solid rectangle of metal in one process. This technique eliminates all welding and finishing as a secondary process. The savings for manufacturers which either produce a lot of these types of parts or those who today leave the corners un-welded, because they can not afford to close them, can be tremendous.

Cold rolled steel up to 0.125” can be formed in almost any combination of flange bending radius and actual corner radius. Corner radii of up to 2” may actually be created.

Stainless steel, aluminum and other formable alloys may also be processed.

The parts created are consistent in appearance. The material in the vertical bend is not weakened, in the contrary.

Flange heights up to 1.0” or in special cases up to 1.5” are possible. Please see the flange chart for specifics based on your material and thickness.

Significant time savings can be achieved with the EDGEMASTER corner forming process. The process takes less than 9 seconds for each corner regardless of the material or the shape applied. Utilizing the external cutting unit C100 increases flexibility and reduces runtime.

The advantages to this novel approach are numerous:

Cost savings:

  • No or limited corner notching
  • No welding
  • No or limited finishing
  • Less space
  • Less time
  • Less consumables

Throughput:

  • Shorter lead times
  • No buffering in between

Improved Quality:

  • Consistent
  • Strong
  • Clean inside radius (This is especially relevant for parts used in the food processing and medical industry.)

Working environment:

  • Clean
  • Less noise
  • Ergonomic

Not only the process is unique. The M100 is genuine in it’s design, simplicity and ease of use. An economic investment, it features the through and through quality of it’s solid engineering promising the user many years of trouble free use.

The floor space required to place the unit is measures only 42 inches square. External controls are mobile and to be located depending on work piece dimensions.

  1. The blank is pre-bend on the customers press brake. Edgemaster will modify a customer’s short piece of press brake die to create the specific shape at the end of each bend.

  2. The corner is then formed down utilizing a stress free rolling process. Large flange heights may require a rough pre- trimming of the corner to avoid too much excess material.

  3. After forming the excess material is trimmed off, either automatically in the M100 machine or externally in the C100 cutting device. The flange in the corner is true to height. Special tooling is available to create offsets.

The M200 features the same process of the M100 but is able to process to corners simultaneously. Adaptable for different width of the part this machine will double the output where larger lot sizes need to be produced.

The recently developed C100 cutting device will allow the user to cut same corner radii parts with varying flange height in one tool setup.

It further extends the application range for high tensile alloys such as stainless steel.

And it will speed up the overall process as you can now process a part in each machine in approximately 5 seconds, given additional manpower.
